Daniel Di Martino is a Venezuelan expatriate who supports U.S.-led intervention in his country to end the violence and despair caused by Dictator Nicolas Maduro.

Somehow, his plea to end the suffering of his people sparked controversy on CNN.

Di Martino previously authored an op-ed in USA Today poignantly titled “Venezuela was my home, and socialism destroyed it. Slowly, it will destroy America, too.”

The hosts at CNN’s New Day tolerated hearing about that first part but dismissed Di Martino when he issued a warning about radical members of the Democratic Party and the direction they want to take America. (Conservative Tribune)

In the weekend interview, Di Martino talked about growing up in the country back when Venezuela was the darling of the socialist world. He called it “much better than now. I did have what I needed.”

“As time progressed, starting in around 2010 when I have some memories, when I was 11 years old, as well as a little earlier, you could see shortages of food, especially milk, toilet paper.

CNN’s anchors still had no problem with Di Martino – then he came out swinging against Democratic Reps. Ilhan Omar and Tulsi Gabbard along with Sen. Bernie Sanders.

“Look. There is no further proof of my argument than Bernie Sanders’ statement a few days ago,” Di Martino said.

“He refused to say that Nicolas Máduro was a dictator and refused to recognize Juan Guaidó as the president of Venezuela. Something Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats have done. This is really dangerous.

Di Martino called on Democrats to rein in the extremist elements of their base.

It wasn’t the message CNN wanted to end on, so anchor Dave Briggs entered the fray, arguing that neither Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez nor Bernie Sanders wants to see Venezuelan-style socialism before patronizingly ending the interview.
