As of today, at least 13 advertisers have abandoned Tucker Carlson’s primetime show over comments the Fox News host made about immigration. (The Wrap)
As of Tuesday morning, Just For Men, ScotteVest, Voya Financial, Zenni Optical, Pacific Life, Indeed, Bowflex, SmileDirectClub, NerdWallet, Minted, Ancestry.com, and IHOP Jaguar had all told TheWrap they plan to suspend advertising on the program.
On Tuesday a spokesman for Just For Men told TheWrap in a statement: “Just For Men has no further plans to advertise on Tucker Carlson’s show. The brand is always considering ways to remain responsible, and this includes aligning with partners who share our brand values.”
On Monday, Carlson addressed the growing boycott campaign against his sponsors over his on-air remarks about immigration, telling viewers that he would not be intimidated.
“You’ve seen it a million times, it happens all the time,” he said. “The enforcers scream ‘racist’ on Twitter, until everyone gets intimidated and changes the subject to the Russia investigation or some other distraction. It’s a tactic, a well worn one. And it won’t work with the show, we’re not intimidated. We plan to say what’s true until the last day.”
However, pressure continues to mount with each defection as left-wing advocacy groups like Media Matters stay on the offensive via social media.
The controversy ignited when Carlson said that immigrants had made the United States “poorer and dirtier and more divided.”
Fox News said it would stand by Carlson.
