The Texas Supreme Court has now voided a state district judge’s order which had prevented the arrest of renegade Democrat lawmakers who had fled the state to try and sabotage legislation they opposed.
The path is now cleared for authorities to arrest the renegade Democrats.
As The Texas Tribune reports:
House Democrats who refuse to show up for the Legislature could soon be detained by law enforcement and brought back to the state Capitol, after the Texas Supreme Court on Tuesday voided a state district judge’s temporary restraining order barring their arrest.
The all-Republican high court’s order came at the request of Gov. Greg Abbott and House Speaker Dade Phelan, also both Republicans, who petitioned the court on Monday to overturn a recent ruling by a Travis County district judge that blocked them from ordering the arrest of quorum-busting Democrats, who were in Washington, D.C., for about a month. The House Democrats in the suit have until Thursday at 4 p.m. to respond to the court. Democrats who are arrested would not face criminal charges and could not be jailed or fined. Law enforcement officers carrying out arrest orders by state officials could only try to bring them to the House chambers.
“The Supreme Court of Texas swiftly rejected this dangerous attempt by Texas Democrats to undermine our Constitution and avoid doing the job they were elected to do,” said Renae Eze, an Abbott spokeswoman. “We look forward to the Supreme Court upholding the rule of law and stopping another stall tactic by the Texas Democrats.”
In a joint statement, Democratic State Reps. Trey Martinez Fischer of San Antonio, Gina Hinojosa of Austin and Jasmine Crockett of Dallas, said they would continue to fight for a temporary injunction at the district court level.

They should not receive any pay nor benefits while derelict from their elected jobs unless in a Hospital

allowances for this. They must be in the State of Texas and conduct the business as elected to do so,

No arrested for taking BRIBES, violation of oath, attempting to overthrow the government of Texas, holding the state hostage, and conspiracy, as well as theft of government assets property and time (theft of wages). Each elected official is paid annual salary and are to be available during all sessions. this was theft. It was more than that it was conspiracy including third parties who paid for the trip.
Arrest and try them all. But first, take thier titles and throw them permanently from chambers.
Arrest them all and fine them one million dollars each for being traitor.
Forget the fine of only $1 million. Make it $1 million plus $50,000 per day that they were away without leave from their duties. Make it hurt them hard where it matters most to them: in their pocketbooks!

It is a warrant to bring them to chambers, that is all the House can order. However they can order the AG to look into criminal charges for conspiracy, receiving bribes, breach of trust, theft of wages, and about 100 other felonies.

The problem is that the Dems took money from outside the state to take a vacation during session. This was done to overthrow the TX government. It was also a violation of oath and the acceptance of a bribe. The people of Texas pay wages to elected officials to handle the business of state government. In taking bribes (payment to leave and disrupt government by way of a paid vacation) there was a conspiracy against the state and its taxpayers an theft of government resources. It violated many felony laws.
The issue is that it is time for the Attorney General of Texas to order the arrest of all who left and all who aided by paying their vacation tabs. This conspiracy cost TX tens of millions and the recovery in Texas is allowed at TRIPLE DAMAGES plus criminal charges.
Give me three hours with a first year law student we could find 50 felonies easily against each person involved.
Arrest them and try them and find them guilty and place them in PRISON where they belong.
No pay if they do not work. And if these reps refuse to show up for work. The Governor should have the power to replace them with whoever ran against them in the last election, and had the most votes.
