The House Select Committee charged with investigating the events surrounding the Jan. 6th, 2021 Capitol riot says it’s not planning to request former President Trump come in to testify.

Panel leader Rep. Bennie Thompson said that the panel isn’t sure Trump’s testimony would add any value to the investigation.

The Hill reports:

“We’ve looked at talking to a lot of people. We’ve not canceled out anything, but there’s no feeling among the committee to call him as a witness at this point,” Thompson said of Trump.

“We’re not sure that the evidence that we received can be any more validated with his presence….I think the concern is whether or not he would add any more value with his testimony,” he said in response to whether Trump might lie to the committee.

While the move raises questions about how aggressively the committee might pursue interviews with other high ranking Republicans, the chair said nothing has been finalized on the top tier of the executive branch, including former Vice President Mike Pence.

“We’ve been talking to his lawyers trying to engage them and that conversation is still going on,” he said.

Last week the panel issued subpoenas to multiple Republican lawmakers that had previously refused to voluntarily testify before the panel.

The Jan6 panel is afraid what President Trump might reveal about ol’ nance and fiends. He was still president and I’ll bet he knows a thing or two about what the Dem scoundrels were up to. And they don’t want to hear it.

Exactly, if he testifies, then he will tell them that he suggested on two occasions, to Pelosi, that he would call in 10,000 of the national guard for crowd control, should it get out of hand if she wanted it. She and the head of capital police refused and the rest is history. So, in testifying, it would then become part of the official investigation record and point a finger at Pelosi’s incompetence! They can’t have that on there kangaroo court records!

I should not call it kangaroo court because I believe congress has no authority to be doing this in the first place. If they have a question about how a riot started, or a break in at the capital building, they are supposed to forward a request over to the justice department, to investigate. Not do it themselves!
