Liberal network CNN wants to get back to “good journalism” according to the new owner. During an interview for CNBC, billionaire John Malone made the dig at CNN while discussing the proposed $43 billion combination of WarnerMedia and Discovery into a new entity Warner Bros. Discovery.
Newsmax reports:
“I would like to see CNN evolve back to the kind of journalism that it started with, and actually have journalists, which would be unique and refreshing,” said Malone, who is longtime chairman of Liberty Media, which is a major shareholder in Discovery and will be the controlling partner of the new media combination.
“I do believe good journalism could have a role in this future portfolio that Discovery-TimeWarner’s going to represent,” he said.
CNN will be the key news property in the merged company, one that will be dominated by entertainment programming. There had been rumors that CNN might be spun off or sold, but Malone indicated that’s not likely.
He described such a move as “a coward’s way out would be to sell [CNN] or spin it off and then sell it.”
However, CNN’s viewership has dropped more than 50% over the last year. The network has struggled to remain relevant in a post-Trump era after primarily focusing on attacking the Republican president for years.

I bet that after this bit of news we start to see the talking heads on CNN start to criticize Biden and democrats a little. Well, the prevailing ‘journalism,’ just like the infamous ‘corporate culture,’ percolates from the top DOWN. There may be hope if the offenders who refuse to toe the line of honest journalism get fired and sent out on the street. Let them approach their favorite party and apply to become failed political hacks under the party’s flag; OR to collect garbage; OR to catch pythons in the Everglades; OR to sell pencils on the street.
